Ankara has escalated its confrontation with the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the issue of the Greek and Turkish Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ).
In a statement released on Friday morning, Hami Aksoy, a spokesperson of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that regarding the issue of the delimitation of maritime jurisdiction areas, “Turkey, as was the case before, will continue to act in line with the equitable principles and all relevant special circumstances.”
Aksoy added that “there is no advice that we would get from Greece with regard to the delimitation techniques within the framework of international law.”
This statement came only a few hours after Greece’s response to remarks made by the Turkish Minister of Defense about the situation in the Aegean Sea and the eastern Mediterranean.
