Jack Lew: Greece’ s Issue Must be Solved As Soon As Possible

US Finance Minister, Jack Lew requested from the IMF, the European Institutions and Greece, to complete the program evaluation and find a reasonable solution to the restructuring of the country’s debt, after meeting with Greek Finance Minister, Euclid Tsakalotos.

The Greek Minister also discussed the evaluation with German Finance Minister, Wolfgang Schäuble, as well as the President of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi.

'Race against time' in Japan to find earthquake survivors

Army troops and other rescuers rushed Saturday to save scores of trapped residents on the southern island of Kyushu in Japan, following a magnitude 7.3 earthquake that shook the Kumamoto region early on the same day - killing at least 32 people.
The quake triggered a tsunami advisory which was later lifted, according to a senior government official.
The earthquake on Saturday followed a 6.4 magnitude quake on Thursday that killed nine people in the area.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said that 1,500 people had been injured in the quakes and more than 91,000 had been evacuated from their homes. More than 200 homes and other buildings were either destroyed or damaged, she added on Saturday.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe voiced concern over possible secondary disasters due to inclement weather.
"The wind is expected to pick up and rain will likely get heavier. Rescue operations at night will be extremely difficult," he told a government meeting on Saturday. "But there are people waiting for help. Please do your utmost while putting top priority on human lives."

German comedian Jan Böhmermann takes a broadcasting break

Beleaguered German TV presenter and comedian Jan Böhmermann announced that he would be taking a break from broadcasting for several weeks.
He said that he took the decision "so the public and the internet can return to focusing on the important things in life like the refugee crisis, cat videos and the love life of [German TV actress] Sophia Thomalla."

Blue Air to Launch Flights Between Athens and Turin, Constanta from June

Romanian airline Blue Air is adding the Athens – Turin (Caselle) and Athens – Constanta routes to its 2016 summer schedule.

Both routes from Athens will launch on June 4, offering two weekly flights.

The airline will also increase frequencies on the Athens-Larnaca and Thessaloniki-Larnaca routes, throughout the summer schedule.

In its 11th year, Blue Air offers flights to over 65 routes in Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The company has five operational bases, in Bucharest, Bacau, Iasi, Larnaca and Turin.
